Trust and Identity Orchestration certification reinforces global credentials.
Orchestrating Identity has been awarded dual certification from Kantara Initiative as both an Identity Service Provider (IDSP) and an Orchestration Service Provider (OSP), one of only six organisations to hold both certifications.
The certification comes ahead of the imminent launch of the UK government’s digital wallet and at a point when the global market is waking up to the complexity of digital trust and the need for a functional trust layer for the internet.
Orchestrating Identity is the only dual-certified company to offer an open-access, flexible and IDSP-agnostic orchestration platform - in short, open orchestration that removes the single point of failure issue for all businesses and organisations in need of trust and identity orchestration.
Kantara Initiative is currently the only UK-accredited certification body authorised to assess and certify digital identity service providers against the UK's Digital Identity and Attributes Trust Framework (DIATF), ensuring compliance with government-defined standards and best practices.
The DIATF framework will come into UK law when the Data (Use and Access) Bill receives Royal Assent in the coming weeks. The dual certification recognises Orchestrating Identity as a trusted provider that enables secure, efficient, and trustworthy digital identity solutions in line with the DIATF framework.
David Rennie, strategic advisor at Orchestrating Identity, says: “Trust and Identity Orchestration - what we call TIDO services - bring much-needed confidence for consumers and organisations when transacting digitally.
“The dual certification under the UK’s Trust Framework as both an Identity Service Provider (IDSP) and Orchestration Service Provider (OSP) allow us to bring internationally recognised, government-grade identity technologies to the commercial market through our partnership with IDEMIA Smart Identity. Our aim is to support digital services that demonstrably comply with regulatory standards and accelerate the growth of the digital economy both within the UK and across borders.”
Digital identity initiatives are in development outside the UK, such as the EU Member State issued Digital Identity Wallets (EUDI Wallet). Certified TIDO services, such as those provided by Orchestrating Identity, will be a major enabler for the global digital economy by providing the platform for interoperability based on international identity standards.
Rennie adds: “Our dynamic approach to building trust in real time - particularly where fraud risks or regulatory challenges require a more adaptive model - is designed to be agile, scalable and human-first. Orchestration is key because there’s no one-size-fits-all approach to verification; trust services need to create gateways rather than put up barriers.”
Kay Chopard, executive director of Kantara Initiative, concludes: “At Kantara Initiative, our goal is to drive the adoption of trusted identity services worldwide. It is our mission to give businesses and organisations the confidence that results from using identity services that have been certified against the most rigorous of standards.
“For this reason, we are pleased to have awarded our first orchestration accreditation in the UK to Orchestrating Identity. Their approach to open-orchestration has the potential to change the way the benefits of trusted identity verification is applied across a wide range of services.”
