Multi-award-winning brand Elvis & Kresse has donated 50% of profits from its Fire-Hose Range to The Fire Fighters Charity.

This year, the trust received a staggering £63,727.12 from Elvis & Kresse, which will be put towards digital support, residential services and new initiatives, such as supporting young people.

The award-winning accessory company created its fire-hose collection in 2005, inspired by the influx of damaged fire hoses being sent to landfill. According to the company, no decommissioned hose has been disposed of since they were founded. These important items are used by firefighters to save hundreds of lives and are being granted a second life by being turned into quality bags, wallets, candlestick holders and even cufflinks. Elvis and Kresse insists on giving back to the trust as a vow of thanks for their honourable service. They have donated £272,559.45 to the FFC since their inception.

"Rescued fire hoses are at the heart of our business, which means it isn't just an honour to work with The Fire Fighters Charity, it also makes sense.” says co-founder Kresse Wesling. “Firefighters rescue so many people and through our work, their hoses get to repay the favour. What a second life!"

Elvis and Kresse take pride in being an ethical social enterprise which rescues, transforms and donates. The fire-hoses they source are cleaned, disinfected and thoroughly treated in their workshop in Faversham, Kent, before being used to create the luxurious items placed on sale. Each product is inspected by a team of craftspeople for any imperfections or room for improvement before being distributed worldwide.

Alongside their partnership with the FFC, they also donate profits to Barefoot College International – in particular their Solar Mama initiative in Guatemala.

As the figures show, the company is donating more money as it ages. In 2007, its first donation consisted of only £132.99, but now, 17 years later, they are raising well into the thousands. This shows that there are more individuals becoming interested in sustainable fashion and giving back to emergency services in a creative, out-of-the-ordinary manner. Perhaps this could be the future of effective fundraising and encouraging more environmentally-friendly ways of shopping.
