Trees For Good Causes is a non-profit community interest company established in January this year after a successful 2021 pilot. It offers tree planting to individuals and businesses to help offset carbon footprint or even donate a tree in memory of someone or as an eco-conscious gift, for example, to mark an anniversary or celebrate a birthday.
The cause has seen many individuals and businesses from the South West donating to plant trees, such as Marshall Volkswagen Barnstaple, Hartnell Taylor Cook, Project South West, Burdens Exeter, Clairical, Jobseekers Taunton and Pure Performance Pro, among others.
This Community tree planting scheme helps offset carbon footprint and positively impacts the local environment. But that's not all. Individuals and businesses can donate to plant a tree with Trees For Good Causes for just £5 – of which at least £2 goes to a charity of the year. In 2022, this is the North Devon Hospice.
Gareth Cornell, Head of Business at Marshall Volkswagen Barnstaple, commented: "At Marshall Volkswagen Barnstaple, we want to work together with our colleagues, customers and the local community to reduce our carbon footprint. By donating the in-house cost of our complimentary wash and vacuum to plant trees locally and at the same time, donate to North Devon Hospice, is a very simple way to benefit both the environment and our local community too. It's a small action that can add up to a big difference."
Ali Hunt, Head of Fundraising at North Devon Hospice, said: "We are all delighted at North Devon Hospice to be the beneficiary of Trees For Good Causes. Such great work is directly benefiting our patients and their families. At a time when we are supporting more local people than ever, this donation towards our care is sincerely appreciated."
And it's been fantastic so far. Thanks to all involved, Trees For Good Causes donated £1,812 to NDH in its first quarter in operation.
Stuart Howell, the Managing Partner at Hartnell Taylor Cook, added: "We are absolutely thrilled to be working with Trees for Good Causes in our centenary year. We understand our responsibility to the planet and the need for us all to work together to tackle the climate crisis. Our aim is to plant 100 trees throughout 2022 and look forward to seeing those flourish."
Trees For Good Causes has also recently collaborated with 'Yours' magazine to offer readers an opportunity to plant 'Yours Forest' to celebrate the 400th edition of the magazine.
Yours Editor Sharon Reid says: “We can’t think of a better way to mark our 400th issue than to ask the Yours community to come together to help us create something that will have a lasting legacy.
“Your generosity will not only enable us to enhance the environment but also support people who are affected by a life-limiting illness. We’re excited to see the Yours Forest established and look forward to watching it grow and flourish for many decades to come.”
The response from the readers was astonishing, and only in the first couple of months, the readers have already donated 478 trees that will be planted in November when the new season starts.
