Award-winning entrepreneur, Byron Cole has received an honorary doctorate of business
administration from Greenwich University. The Self Made mogul was awarded the Honorary
Doctorate in recognition of his business acumen and outstanding work for both
entrepreneurship and philanthropy.
Byron Cole’s dedication to succeed in life is a testament to his resilience. Despite leaving
school without any qualifications, Byron Cole studied Business Economics at Greenwich
University and graduated in 2008. Since then he has continued to give back by way of
actively being involved with the University’s entrepreneurship team. Vice-Chancellor,
Professor Jane Harrington describes Byron Cole as an ‘exceptional candidate who is an
active member of the community’. She went onto add that Byron has ‘empowered and
inspired the University of Greenwich students and has become a role model to all members
of our community. This is especially significant as our students are the first in their family to
go to university’. From being a student to now Chair of the Advisory Board for
entrepreneurs and organisations, Byron Cole’s achievements speak for themselves.
Together with his wife, BBC apprentice finalist and personal brand expert, Bianca Miller-Cole, Byron
created the Self Made brand; mentoring business owners on how to run a successful
business. They have together published two best selling business books with Penguin Random House & Hachette Group (the two largest publishers in the world). What makes Byron Cole great is his passion to help other entrepreneurs go after
their dreams. Reflecting on his achievements during his speech at the award ceremony,
Byron Cole stated that he ‘didn’t just aspire to make a living, but aspired to make a
difference, which is why he is here today’.
