Aram Tufan, entrepreneur and founder of Happy Student – a unique platform designed to help students navigate new cities and ease their transition into new academic environments, has been shortlisted for the prestigious Great British Entrepreneur Awards in the ‘Early-Stage, Stands Out’ category.

Happy Student was born out of research led by Aram showing that international and domestic students alike faced difficulties with transitioning into unfamiliar surroundings. The Platform provides essential information for students travelling to study. This includes guides to registering with GPs, setting up utilities, opening bank accounts, mobile phone contracts as well as how to use the new city’s transport system.

It serves as a beacon of motivation for us to continue our work and expand our reach even further.” said Aram.

Aram drew from his own experience when studying at the University of Westminster. Born in Batman, Turkey, Aram's inspirational journey from South-eastern Turkey to London via Istanbul is a testament to his tenacity. The transformative experiences he had have since driven his entrepreneurial spirit, and from this synergy, the seed of Happy Student was sown.
“As an international student myself, I saw that a smoother transition would have allowed me to fully embrace the cultural experiences London had to offer and enhance my education. That’s why I believe Happy Student will be important to future students and their arrival at university,” Aram added.

The platform is not restricted to London and is customisable for universities, allowing them to include their own resources alongside the platform's included material.

The Great British Entrepreneurship Awards 2023 will serve as a platform for the brilliant minds shaping the future, such as Aram Tufan, to be recognised and appreciated.
