The buzz around children’s coding education was impossible to miss at the Hilton London Metropole last week, where Code Ninjas teams from across the UK came together for NinjaCon – a four-day event centred on the future of children’s coding education. The conference brought UK teams together with colleagues from the US, including CEO Navin Gurnaney, who travelled across the Atlantic to join discussions, share insights and support centres as they prepare for the year ahead.

The event opened with a collective aim to “align and elevate”, encouraging teams to think about how coding can be introduced to young learners in ways that are clear, engaging and genuinely enjoyable. At the heart of every conversation was the Dojo – the space where children build games, explore technology and develop valuable digital skills through hands-on learning.

Mark Fleming, Franchise Business Partner for Code Ninjas UK, said: “This year’s NinjaCon was all about clarity, connection and momentum. Our centres are entering 2026 with renewed focus and a shared commitment to delivering industry-leading coding education for kids nationwide.”

Across the four days, teams took part in sessions exploring how to make coding more accessible and impactful for children. Workshops focused on simplifying how core concepts are explained, designing Dojo environments that spark curiosity and using digital channels to reach families who want meaningful tech experiences for their children. The importance of community involvement, particularly from local schools, was a recurring theme, with practical guidance provided on introducing coding into classroom settings.

A lively “Fun in the Dojo” session showcased simple activities that help build confidence and creativity, while a Senseis-only workshop led by Education Team member Sara Smolevitz focused on developing strong teaching practice and positive classroom dynamics.

Two evening gatherings also offered the chance to recognise outstanding achievements across the network, with awards presented including Community Champion, Centre Director of the Year and Sensei of the Year.

Robin Theakston, Centre Director of Code Ninjas Aylesbury, High Wycombe and Hemel Hempstead, and winner of the Community Champion Award, said: “I’m honoured to receive this recognition. The true reward is helping children develop computational thinking. Digital skills build problem-solvers, creativity and confidence, and we’re equipping young people across our towns to thrive in tomorrow’s world.”

Reflecting on the event, Mark added: “The passion and professionalism across our UK network have never been stronger. NinjaCon has equipped our teams with the tools, insight and confidence to grow, innovate and inspire even more young coders as we move into the new year.”
