Horsham is set to host a weekend of festivities in honour of the King's Coronation, and Piries Place is excited to announce their street party on Sunday 7th May. The event promises to be a day filled with fun, entertainment, and community spirit.
Piries Place, along with local businesses and the community, will come together for live performances, featuring a variety of acts, including the Magog Morris Dancers, Root & Branch Theatre, Big Notes Choir, and Roaming Palace Guards. The market stalls will offer something for everyone, with coronation-themed cocktail and mocktail making at M Bar and art-K Horsham's crown and flag-making activity. The Red Deer, a local pub, will be doing special coronation food tasters, and Bodyset will be giving free massages on the day.
Piries Place will be decorated with coronation bunting and lamppost emblems, and local businesses will dress and decorate their storefronts with bright, bold, and colourful royal designs, props, flags, bunting, and artwork. All businesses will be competing to win the online competition for "best dressed window/display," voted for by the general public on social media.
"We are thrilled to bring the community together to celebrate this historic event," said a spokesperson from Piries Place. "We have worked hard to create a fun, safe, and inclusive environment for everyone to enjoy. We can't wait to see everyone there."
On top of the activities at Piries Place, Horsham is set to host other festivities in honour of the King's Coronation.
From Friday 5th to Monday 8th May, communities across the Horsham will come together to celebrate with a range of exciting events and activities suitable for all ages. Traditional Morris Dancing, live music, children's crafts, and a funfair are just a few of the many events taking place over the weekend.
Bensons Funfair in Horsham Park will be open from noon to 9 pm daily from Friday 5th May, to Monday 8th May, featuring rides and games suitable for younger children. On Sunday 7th May, join the Garden Party and Crafts at Horsham Museum for Coronation-themed crafts, refreshments, and a Quartet band. And on Monday 8th May, participate in The Big Help Out, dedicated to promoting local and national volunteering events.
Horsham Town Centre markets will have extra activities on Saturday 7th May, and Sunday 8th May, including a dog competition on West Street on Saturday and live music on both days.
Don't miss the Coronation screening at The Capitol Horsham, showing the live broadcast of HM The Queen's Coronation from 2nd June 1953.
The Piries Place street party is just one of the many ways they are bringing the community together. It promises to be a fantastic day filled with fun and entertainment for all. Piries Place looks forward to welcoming everyone to the event and hopes to see you there.
